Admin & other stuff about LIFEBRIDGE CHURCH
(that we needed to say but could not figure out where else to put it)
The Church:
LifeBridge was founded in November of 2008 after two years of planning. As of September of 2011, LifeBridge Church became a part of the Progressive Church Alliance. The PCA is an international, trans-denomination association of Christian minsters and ministries.
LifeBridge a mash up of incarnational and organic. Mash ups tend to be messy, but they are never boring, always interesting, and completely unique. It is a safe place for people to explore and to love and to be themselves while being disciples if that is what they choose to be.
When you come to LifeBridge, you will notice some different aspects.
- We sit in a square to encourage discussion.
- The music is eclectic, but meaningful.
- Communion is intimate, all are welcome but no one is required.
- We have a prayer candle station where offerings can be made and prayers remembered.
- Services are about an hour long.
The Pastor:
Reverend Pat Green received his undergrad in pastoral studies at Christian Life College in Mount Prospect, Ilinois. In the 90′s he was involved heavily in youth ministry as a youth pastor in Living Water Assemble of God in Bolingbrook, Il and Cornerstone Community Church in Plainfield, Il.
Burnt out and fed up with politics, Pat left ministry for a decade and worked in a smattering of technology and logistics based companies in executive positions before starting his own Technical writing and consulting firm. Around 2006 he became exposed to the ministries of Jay Baker and Revolution Church. This inspired Pat to return to ministry.
After completing a 1 year planting internship in 2007 and 2008 at Life-Spring Community Church, where he was ordained, he started LifeBridge Church in Lockport, Il.
As an adult survivor of child abuse and one who suffers from Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Pat knows what it is to be hurt, judged, and alone. With inspirations like Henri Nouwen and Dietrich Bonhoeffer, he has channeled his energies in this post modern world to create a safe harbor for people to explore their faith, heal, and find beauty in the greatest commandment of loving God, others, and yourself. He does this with unflinching vulnerability in the hopes it will give others permission to be themselves.
Pat is proud to be currently ordained and recognized with the Progressive Christian Alliance.
Feel free to read his blog.
Elders:
Our elders team are not your usual gathering of upper middle class white men you see in most churches. They come from a broad array of ages, backgrounds, and lives. Elders are not “in charge” of anyone and our meetings are mostly open to all. The elders primary job is to serve the people of LifeBridge and the community as we speak on how we can love God, others, and ourselves more richly
